How can teachers support a safe and equitable environment for students who come from low socioeconomic status (SES)?



What is Differentiated Instruction?

Differentiation means tailoring instruction to meet individuals needs. For instance, teachers may differentiate content, process, products, or the learning environment.


What does it mean to be safe in the classroom?

A safe classroom is a place where students feel free to be themselves and discover who they are. For instance, a place where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, collaborating with peers, and eager to want to learn.


What does it mean to have an equal environment inside the classroom?

An equal classroom environment refers to a place where every students is given the same resources and opportunities. For instance, same quality of instruction , equal funding, and same quality materials and/or facilities.


What is the difference between low-SES and high-SES?

Socioeconomic status (SES) refers to social, economic, and work status of individuals. this may include education, income, and employment.

individuals with high educational achievement and/or high household income
